Living Holistically

I’ve been wanting to “go green” and “live naturally” for quite some time now. And I’ve been searching for “something” that I can do with myself professionally in that regard for a while now too. I’ve considered herbology, aromatherapy, reiki, quantum touch, ttouch for animals, bach flower practitioner and even a doctor of homeopathic medicine. So far I haven’t found my niche.

I was quite enthusiastic about looking into becoming a doctor of homeopathic medicine and contacted several local schools even. But the cost was astounding, though probably not unrealistic considering what I found out about the why of it all. It’s an undergraduate degree and they pretty much expect you to already have some form of medical or undergrad background. For me that would me a LOT of upgrading, I haven’t been to school in over 10 years. Dashed my hopes, it did. But there has to be something for me… I know it! Just have to find it.

Today I had a free consultation with a lifestyle coach. A local lady who teaches yoga and pilates. I’ve always been interested in yoga for relaxation and meditation. Just didn’t think I could afford it. I’m going to now make a point of affording it and just DO it. So many available locations locally that there’s no good reason not to do it. Anyway, the lifestyle coach thing is too expensive for me at the moment. Though I sure DO need someone to help hold myself accountable for making healthy choices. Especially someone to motivate me to go to the gym. I admit it! But at least I am going, right?

I’ve long since begun to change all of our household products to natural, earth friendly ones. I have yet to find a suitable hair product replacement. Shaklee* has some excellent earth friendly household products that I have tried, loved, and continue to use. Though, I wish I could find something local that is Canadian made. Be sure that I will too!

So rather invest in a lifestyle coach to keep me accountable, I am going to start going to yoga classes and maybe invest in some reiki or quantum touch courses. Both help alleviate chronic pain, which I have in spades!

I have yet to really get into nutrition. I am making better choices lately, but what I’d really love to learn more about is in going vegan. With the internet there is gads of information available, but where does one start? I know the gal I spoke to today has vegan cooking classes, perhaps that will be my start.

*If you are considering trying Shaklee products, kindly use my name as a referral and your local distributer. I don’t actually have product on hand, Shaklee ships it directly to you.

Hi Shannon, your post on Reiki and the fact that you are a cat lover like myself caught my eye. I’m a little prejudiced since I am a Reiki Master Teacher, but personally I think that you might find taking a Reiki class extremely rewarding not only for your chronic pain issues, but also for strengthening your connection with animals.

I have a blog on my site entitled “Building Bridges with Animal Reiki” that you might enjoy reading, as well as some other animal stories.

Best wishes to you in whatever path you choose!

    Rose
